AFTER THE WIZARD

Cinemavixion Review

In "After the Wizard," director Hugh Gross revisits the beloved Land of Oz, offering a charming, albeit decidedly low-budget, continuation of its fantastical legacy. The narrative centers on a young Kansas orphan who finds solace in the company of the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman during a challenging period. Their journey, driven by a desire to restore Oz to its former glory after the Wizard's departure, forms the emotional core of the film. While the production values may not rival those of its iconic predecessors, the film's strength lies in its earnest attempt to recapture the magic of Oz through its enduring characters. The performances, particularly from the actors embodying the Scarecrow and Tin Woodman, convey a genuine warmth that resonates with the spirit of the source material. It’s a gentle fantasy that invites younger audiences to imagine a world where friendship and hope can mend even a magical kingdom.
