ADDICTED

Cinemavixion Review

In "ADDicted," director Dan Jenski delves into the precarious tightrope walk of collegiate life, where academic pressures, social relationships, and personal ambitions are dangerously intertwined with prescription drug dependency. The film centers on Drew Dawson, a college student whose reliance on Adderall for his ADD becomes a crutch that threatens to shatter his world when plagiarism accusations jeopardize his football scholarship and draw the ire of his mother, a political candidate. Kathleen Quinlan and Gil Bellows deliver compelling performances as the concerned mother and manipulative professor, respectively, while Luke Guldan navigates Drew's spiraling descent with a raw intensity. Jenski masterfully crafts a narrative that explores themes of self-reliance and the search for genuine happiness beyond pharmaceutical aids, posing the poignant question of what it truly takes to find inner peace when the external supports crumble. The film's unflinching portrayal of these struggles makes it a thought-provoking watch.
