ACORN

Cinemavixion Review

This independent short film, "ACORN," offers a poignant and meta-cinematic exploration of life, death, and the act of creation itself. Directed by David Axe, the narrative follows a young woman filmmaker grappling with a terminal diagnosis, who channels her remaining energy into a final project – a film mirroring her own existence. The production, plagued by unforeseen challenges, becomes imbued with an almost mystical quality, underscored by the unsettling presence of a mysteriously appearing tree. The cast, including Morgan Shaley Renew and Caylin Sams, navigates this complex emotional landscape with a performance that is both raw and introspective. While the film delves into dark themes, it maintains a peculiar sense of wonder and resilience, suggesting that even in the face of finality, the drive to tell one's story can conjure a unique form of magic.
