ACID TEST

Cinemavixion Review

Jennifer Waldo's "Acid Test" plunges viewers into the turbulent world of 1992, centering on Jenny, a gifted high school senior whose meticulously planned future, dictated by her father's Harvard ambitions, is thrown into disarray. The film masterfully captures Jenny's awakening as she discovers the powerful Riot Grrrl movement, igniting a personal rebellion fueled by the era's punk ethos, the complexities of her family dynamics, and a pivotal, consciousness-expanding experience with LSD. This coming-of-age drama is a poignant exploration of self-discovery, as Jenny grapples with her own desires, challenging the predetermined path laid out for her and ultimately forging her own identity. With a compelling performance from Juliana Destefano, "Acid Test" resonates as a vibrant and thought-provoking portrayal of adolescent transformation and the courage it takes to break free from expectation.
