ABDUCTED, ABUSED, AND RESCUED: TWO GIRLS HELD CAPTIVE FOR YEARS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the harrowing true story of two young girls subjected to unimaginable captivity and abuse, and their eventual rescue. The narrative centers on the 2007 arrest of Johannes Mowers, a serial offender whose capture led authorities to a hidden burrow where the girls, one as young as four, were being held. Mowers had kidnapped them years prior, inflicting severe trauma and sexual abuse, particularly on the elder girl. The film approaches this sensitive subject matter with a commendable effort to piece together the events, focusing on the victims' ordeal and attempting to shed light on the psychological depths of a perpetrator capable of such profound cruelty. It is a stark reminder of the darkness that can exist, and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of extreme adversity.
