A YEAR AND CHANGE

Cinemavixion Review

Stephen Suettinger's "A Year and Change" is a poignant exploration of personal redemption and the arduous, yet ultimately rewarding, process of rebuilding a life. Starring Bryan Greenberg as Owen, the film chronicles a year of profound transformation following a life-altering incident at a New Year's Eve party. Owen's decision to quit drinking is the catalyst for a cascade of changes: he endeavors to mend his relationship with his estranged son, rekindle dormant friendships, and, in a particularly touching arc, finds love with Vera, portrayed by Claire van der Boom. T.R. Knight also features in the cast, adding depth to the ensemble. The narrative, co-written by Jim Beggarly and Suettinger, delves into Owen's internal struggle as he confronts past losses and strives to fill the void left by premature departures. The film is a testament to the idea that significant life changes, while challenging, can lead to profound personal growth and renewed connection. With a runtime of 93 minutes, "A Year and Change" offers a thoughtful and character-driven drama that resonates with its relatable themes of second chances and the persistent human drive for meaning and belonging.
