A WAKE

Cinemavixion Review

Scott Boswell's 'A Wake' delves into the fractured landscape of a religious family grappling with the sudden death of their son, Mitchel. The film masterfully navigates the complex grief of three siblings: Mason, who desperately seeks a connection with his lost identical twin; Molly, who seeks solace in meticulous organization; and Megan, whose return home signals a reckoning with unspoken truths. The arrival of an unexpected stranger serves as a catalyst, forcing the family to confront the secrets and lies that have festered around Mitchel's demise. While the film's critical reception, as indicated by its Rotten Tomatoes score, suggests a challenging viewing experience, its exploration of faith, family dynamics, and the pervasive nature of grief offers a poignant, albeit somber, cinematic journey.
