A SHIP OF HUMAN SKIN

Cinemavixion Review

Richard Bailey's "A Ship of Human Skin" is a descent into the unsettling fringes of rural America, weaving a gothic tapestry of mysticism and brutal crime. The film, released in 2019, follows two women on a quest for revelation that leads them into a 'fierce place' where one succumbs to a violent vision, murdering a man with an axe. The legend that follows, of her levitating in prison, adds a layer of unsettling folklore to the narrative. While the film garnered one award and a modest IMDb rating of 5.4, its exploration of dark themes and psychological unraveling, featuring performances by Hilly Holsonback, Hannah Weir, and Ike Duncan, offers a compelling, albeit disturbing, cinematic experience for those drawn to the macabre and the mysterious.
