A PLACE TO STAND

Cinemavixion Review

This film offers a profound glimpse into the transformative power of art, centering on the journey of Jimmy Santiago Baca. Baca's narrative, as presented, is one of remarkable resilience, moving from the despair of incarceration to the quiet, burning strength found within poetry. Director Daniel Glick masterfully captures this evolution, highlighting how the written word became not just an outlet but a guiding force. The documentary serves as a powerful testament to the human spirit's capacity for self-discovery and reinvention, encouraging viewers to recognize the potential for profound change that can emerge even from the darkest circumstances. It's an inspiring look at how creativity can illuminate a path forward.
