A NEW BREED OF CRIMINAL

Cinemavixion Review

Richard John Taylor's "A New Breed of Criminal" plunges viewers into the gritty underworld of Newcastle, charting the ambitious ascent of Stephen Sayers. The film, released in 2023, draws heavily on the real-life story, offering a narrative that is both compelling and cautionary. Anchored by strong performances from Michael McKell and Nicholas Ball, who embody the complex characters navigating the treacherous landscape of crime and law enforcement, the film explores themes of ambition, loyalty, and the inevitable consequences of a life lived outside the law. While the IMDb rating suggests a polarizing reception, the film's commitment to its narrative and its evocative portrayal of a specific time and place make it a noteworthy entry in the crime genre. It's a stark reminder of the allure and peril at the heart of criminal enterprise.
