A GOOD KILL

Cinemavixion Review

Boris Paval Conen's "A Good Kill" (2016) plunges viewers into the harrowing realities faced by young Dutch soldiers stationed in Uruzgan, Afghanistan. The film adeptly navigates the moral complexities and ethical quandaries inherent in a war zone, as depicted through the experiences of its protagonists. Following a chaotic roadside bomb attack, a pivotal moment arises when a Dutch soldier opens fire on an Afghan suspect. This single act of violence, however, triggers a devastating cascade of events, casting a long and somber shadow over the lives of those involved. With a cast including Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen, Lourens van den Akker, and Yannick van de Velde, "A Good Kill" offers a poignant and thought-provoking exploration of the psychological toll of conflict and the enduring consequences of decisions made under extreme duress. The film has been recognized with one award, underscoring its impact within the war drama genre.
