A GARDEN THAT FITS IN WITH THE CITY - WITH NATIVE PLANTS

Cinemavixion Review

In a refreshing departure from typical urban landscaping, this documentary explores the ambitious vision of a Melbourne couple, Carl and Maria, who seek to integrate the wild beauty of the Australian bush into their city-bound life. Their plan to rebuild their home around a native plant garden, complete with a natural bush billabong and a chemical-free pool, is a testament to their dedication to creating a unique, nature-centric environment for their three young children. The film delves into the challenges of such a project, particularly the spatial constraints of a suburban block and the complex biological systems required for a natural pool. It poses the intriguing question of whether the essence of the Australian bush can truly be transplanted into the heart of the suburbs, offering a compelling narrative for anyone interested in sustainable living, innovative garden design, and the profound connection between humans and nature.
