A FUNNY JOB

Cinemavixion Review

Shecky, a comedian wrestling with his own career trajectory, finds an unexpected opportunity aboard a cruise ship. The premise hinges on the apparent demise of the ship's star comic, Dickie Diamond, thrusting Shecky into the spotlight. While the narrative promises a comedic ascent, it is the performance of Adam Sandler, as Shecky, that anchors this tale. Sandler navigates the character's anxieties and aspirations with a familiar blend of pathos and humor, making Shecky's struggle relatable. The confined setting of the cruise ship serves as a microcosm for Shecky's own perceived limitations, amplifying the stakes of his comedic endeavors. This film offers a glimpse into the precarious world of stand-up, where one person's misfortune can be another's big break.
