A FROSTY AFFAIR

Cinemavixion Review

Dylan Pearce's "A Frosty Affair" (2015) offers a charming, albeit predictable, romantic comedy set against the stark beauty of the Canadian North. Jewel Staite delivers a relatable performance as Kate Carter, a teacher whose meticulously planned life takes an unexpected detour when a blizzard strands her with the enigmatic Redford, played with gruff appeal by Shawn Roberts. The film's strength lies in its premise: a forced adventure that unravels Kate's certainty about her impending marriage and opens her eyes to a potentially more passionate path. While the narrative adheres to familiar genre conventions, the snowy, isolated setting provides a unique backdrop that amplifies the sense of both confinement and burgeoning connection between the leads. The chemistry between Staite and Roberts, though initially fraught with tension, gradually blossoms, making their journey of self-discovery and unexpected romance engaging. "A Frosty Affair" is a cozy, heartwarming watch, perfect for those seeking a festive escape with a touch of unexpected adventure.
