A DOGGONE HOLLYWOOD

Cinemavixion Review

Jim Wynorski's "A Doggone Hollywood" presents a charming, albeit familiar, tale of a canine celebrity yearning for a simpler life. The film centers on Murphy, a famous TV dog tired of being exploited by Hollywood. While the premise might lean into predictable territory, the execution is elevated by the genuine charisma of Jesse the Jack Russell Terrier in the titular role. Supported by performances from Paul Logan and Cynthia Rothrock, the narrative unfolds with a lighthearted touch. Wynorski, also credited as writer, crafts a story that, despite its modest IMDb rating, offers a heartwarming message about authenticity and the desire for freedom, resonating particularly with younger audiences and animal lovers. It's a film that celebrates the bond between humans and animals, wrapped in a classic Hollywood underdog narrative.
