A DEATHLY SILENCE

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Witness: A Deathly Silence,' director Alison Duke presents a harrowing and intimate look at the enduring pain and unwavering pursuit of justice. The documentary centers on Julia Farquaharson, a mother whose grief is palpable as she campaigns for answers one year after her son, Segun, was tragically killed just yards from their home. The narrative is particularly poignant due to the detail that Segun himself recorded conversations with his assailants moments before his death, a chilling testament that has yet to yield an arrest. This film serves as a stark, firsthand account of the devastating impact of gun violence on Toronto's youth and the mothers left to navigate a landscape of grim statistics. It is a powerful call for accountability and a deeply moving portrait of maternal resilience in the face of unimaginable loss.
