A DEADLY ASCENT

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the harrowing events of the 2019 Everest tragedy, where the pursuit of the summit tragically claimed eleven lives. Through compelling first-hand accounts from climbers, Sherpas, and grieving families, the film reconstructs the critical moments that led to disaster. It raises pertinent questions about overcrowding on the world's highest peak, the role of inexperienced climbers lured by commercial expeditions, and the ethical responsibilities of guiding companies. Beyond the human cost, the documentary also touches upon the environmental strain caused by the increasing number of ascents. It serves as a sobering examination of the allure and inherent dangers of Everest, urging a critical look at safety protocols and the future of high-altitude mountaineering.
