A DATE WITH MISS FORTUNE

Cinemavixion Review

John L'Ecuyer's "A Date With Miss Fortune" offers a charmingly optimistic take on romance, anchored by the delightful chemistry between Jeannette Sousa and Ryan Scott. The film skillfully weaves a narrative of serendipity and superstition, as Jack's chance encounter with Maria, a woman whose life is guided by Portuguese folklore, sets in motion a series of events that promise to redefine his luck. The plot cleverly employs flash-forwards, humorously contrasting the idealistic personas the couple projects with the realities of their future life. Sousa and Scott deliver performances that are both endearing and relatable, making their journey from idealized first impressions to lived-in partnership a captivating watch. While the film playfully explores the idea of fate, it ultimately celebrates the human element in building a lasting connection, proving that sometimes, the best fortune is found in the most unexpected of dates.
