A BEND IN THE RIVER

Cinemavixion Review

Colin Broderick's 'A Bend In The River' invites viewers back to the evocative landscapes of Ireland, charting the poignant return of a writer after a quarter-century in New York. The narrative delves into the complex process of confronting buried memories and unresolved past traumas. Anchored by a compelling performance from John Duddy, who embodies the weight of the protagonist's journey, the film is further enriched by the nuanced portrayals of Kathy Kiera Clarke and John McConnell. Broderick masterfully uses the Irish setting not merely as a backdrop, but as a character in itself, mirroring the internal struggles of its protagonist. This is a thoughtful exploration of identity, belonging, and the enduring power of home, offering a reflective cinematic experience.
