Namrata Singh Gujral's "5 Weddings" attempts a vibrant tapestry of culture, identity, and romance, centered around an American journalist's immersion into the dazzling world of Indian Bollywood weddings. While the premise promises a delightful clash of cultures and a journey of self-discovery, the film, released in 2018, largely delivers a narrative that, despite its colorful setting and the presence of Nargis Fakhri and Rajkummar Rao, struggles to fully coalesce. The plot follows Shania (Fakhri), who, expecting a straightforward assignment, finds herself unexpectedly drawn into the complex social fabric of Indian weddings.
