419

Cinemavixion Review

Ned Thorne's "419" presents a gripping thriller that masterfully blurs the lines between fiction and documentary, drawing viewers into a tense pursuit across Cape Town. The narrative follows a New York actor, left destitute by an online scam, as he and his loyal friends venture to South Africa seeking retribution. Thorne, who also stars, imbues the film with a palpable sense of urgency, amplified by the gritty, authentic portrayal of Cape Town's diverse landscapes, from its vibrant nightlife to its shadowed back alleys. The film excels in its exploration of male camaraderie, testing the bonds of friendship under extreme pressure as the quest for revenge spirals into unexpected dangers. With a compelling plot and a unique visual style, "419" offers a thought-provoking examination of trust, loyalty, and the dark consequences that can arise when seeking justice.
