16-LOVE

Cinemavixion Review

Adam Lipsius's "16-Love" offers a familiar yet charming take on the coming-of-age sports drama, centering on junior tennis prodigy Ally "Smash" Mash. When an ankle injury sidelines her promising professional career, Ally finds herself unexpectedly mentoring a rival. This narrative pivot allows the film to explore themes beyond the court, as Ally learns about life, resilience, and perhaps love, off the pristine white lines she's always known. While the plot may tread familiar ground, the film's earnest portrayal of youthful ambition and the challenges of navigating life transitions, coupled with Lindsey Shaw's performance as Ally, makes it a pleasant watch for fans of the genre. It’s a story that reminds us that sometimes, the biggest victories are found off the scoreboard.
