Franklin Pangborn

Franklin Pangborn carved a distinct niche in Hollywood as a masterful purveyor of comedic anxiety. Transitioning from early stage work to silent films, his unique "droopy pudding-face" and expressive voice became synonymous with the flustered, fastidious authority figure. Pangborn excelled at portraying characters whose orderly worlds were hilariously upended by chaos, a talent showcased... more in classics like Frank Capra's "My Man Godfrey" and Preston Sturges's "Hail the Conquering Hero." His impeccable timing and distinctive delivery made him a reliable source of laughter, solidifying his legacy as an unforgettable character actor in American cinema. less
